Krzysztof Kudrynski – Speaker interview
Krzysztof Kudrynski is a passionate problem-solver with experience in design and implementation of algorithms including Artificial Intelligence, image processing and 3D environment reconstruction. Perfectionist in public presentations, author of best voted talks at international conferences including Devoxx and GeeCon. Expert in artificial intelligence, data analysis, computer vision and robotics. On a daily basis working for Tomtom, trying to squeeze the self-driving-car’s imagination within an SD card, and the cars’ eyes and ears within the tip of a side mirror.
Q. Tell us a bit about yourself. What are your hobbies and interests?
I am a nerd but I have life. Really. My dream is to understand what consciousness is. In terms of maths. (And then never allow its implementation!) In my free time I enjoy watching videos proving that Earth is flat. And Peppa Pig with my kids.
Q. Why did you select this topic for your session at Voxxed Days Cluj-Napoca 2018?
“Flying services with a drone” is one of my first talks and I think that, together with Blazej, we managed to find a perfect mix of algorithmic meat, technical adventure and joy which we serve to the public. The greatest feedback I ever got was: “I need to see this again. With my wife.” I feel this talk is a great choice for the closing keynote session.
Q. Who should attend your session?
Nerds and normal people. Preferably, with their wives, husbands and children, right away!
Q. What are the key things attendees will take away from your session?
Theory-wise, you can treat it as an introduction to emerging robot technologies and autonomous driving. We will be explaining quite a few important concepts in this field. Experience-wise, you will get an end-to-end feeling of a project in the field of robotics and mapping working on flying hardware. You will feel the moments of pain and struggle, desperation and euphoria. If you already work on similar things, you will get a shoulder to cry on. If not yet, you will get warned!
Q. Aside from speaking at Voxxed Days Cluj-Napoca 2018, what is the year review look like for you?
I feel this year was a good proportion between direct work-focus, knowledge sharing and reaseach. I have been working intensly with my team in Tomtom on our Autonomous Driving project. It is a great project with a huge potential to change the way we live in the coming future. Still I managed to squeeze in over 10 conferences where I was talking and giving workshops about deep learning, autonomous driving and computer vision and equally important – listening to what others have to say.
Q. What are your plans for the next year?
Take what life brings! And in the meanwhile become the new Andrew Ng of Deep Learning 😉
