Q. Tell us a bit about yourself. What are your hobbies and interests?
I am a Senior Developer at Ordina Belgium, passionate about all software related to data. As competence leader Big & Fast Data he guides his fellow developers through dark data swamps by giving workshops and presentations.
Outside of work I like to go mountainbiking and winding down with a good beer next to a nice bbq.
Q. Why did you select this topic for your session at Voxxed Days Bucharest 2019?
Stream processing is an interesting topic as it ties closely with the current trend of returning data, feedback as quickly as possible to the end users.
Since most people also tend to get stuck in traffic, using that dataset also makes it easier for people to relate to.
Q. Who should attend your session?
Anybody interested in stream processing.
We do expect the participating persons to have an understanding of Spring Boot and Spring Integration
Q. What are the key things attendees will take away from your session?
How easy it is to get started with Kafka Streams when using Spring Cloud Stream. They will also get some hints and tips about situations to avoid when you start with stream processing.
Q. Aside from speaking at Voxxed Days Bucharest, what are your other plans for this year?
Speaking at more conferences; like Devoxx France, Spring I/O, …
And off course delivering some good quality software on the project I am currently working on.

Q. Tell us a bit about yourself. What are your hobbies and interests?
I’m a Principal Java Software Engineer & Head of OSS at Ordina Belgium. In my day to day job I help our clients get through their digital transformation and fellow developers discovering top-notch technologies and methodologies. We’re also working on a couple of open source solutions. After hours I really like to work on various parts of Spring Cloud or jump in my diving suit to escape from the never-ending stream of data.
Q. Why did you select this topic for your session at Voxxed Days Bucharest 2019?
We chose this topic because in my opinion this is the least known project under the Spring Cloud umbrella and everyone could benefit from this lightweight framework, even if you don’t have or need stream processing.
Q. Who should attend your session?
Anybody interested in stream processing, or an event-driven architecture since you can use Spring Cloud Stream for this too!
However, we expect that the participants have a basic understanding of Spring Boot and Spring Integration.
Q. What are the key things attendees will take away from your session?
How easy it is to set up stream processing or an event-driven architecture with Spring Cloud Stream.
Q. Aside from speaking at Voxxed Days Bucharest, what are your other plans for this year?
We plan on visiting a couple of conferences this year, so if you can’t make it be sure to check out our Twitter accounts! 😉
