Death(march) Stranding – Delivering Evolutionary Architecture
Tim Walls is the Group Architect at EveryMatrix, the iGaming software developer and Platform-as-a-Service Provider headquartered in Bucharest. He began his professional career 25 years ago coding i8051 assembly language for embedded systems, but somehow escaped onto that Internet thing and now has more than 20 years’ experience in the Online Betting & Gaming industry – a world of high volume, low margin transaction and data processing systems at the forefront of global internet and mobile commerce. He spends his days at the intersection of business requirements, technology, and most importantly the people we ask to deliver solutions.
Agile has taught us to deliver in iterations – but iterations on their own won’t stop a project turning into a death march to the finish line, and won’t guarantee that the finish line is in the right place when you get there.
Using real- (and occasionally virtual-) world case studies – including every developer’s nightmare, “re-engineering the legacy monolith nobody dares to touch” – we will explore how change can be designed into an architecture from the beginning, resulting in happier business, happier customers – and happier developers.
