In the recent days Cloud Native has become a buzzword. A synonym that is equal with the challenge of many enterprises for their IT departments to deliver results increasingly faster. But what is the fuss all about? Where has Cloud Native come from? What is its current state? And where is its presumably future? 


In this session we will time travel through the history of Cloud Native and unveil together its journey through the academic and industrial landscape until where we are today. We will discover Cloud-Native Apps (CNA) at its core and look on the steps you can take to prepare for the future of your company. What challenges of today's and tomorrow's of Information Technology and Software Engineering need to be solved?

Benjamin Nothdurft

codecentric AG

Benjamin Nothdurft is an Oracle ACE (formerly Groundbreaker/Developer Champion) and works as Developer Advocate and Technical Lead for Cloud Technologies at codecentric AG, speaks regularly at conferences and gives lectures at several universities. He focuses on the Java and Container ecosystems as well as pushing Software Craftsmanship and agile practices & organizations to the next level. 


In the past 4 years he build up 2 business units by growing the distributed engineering team from 0 to 16 IT consultants dedicated to Java, Cloud Native and DevOps. For many years he serves as committee member and organizer at international conferences like JavaLand and CloudLand where he ensures to establish a high cohesion across cultural boundaries. He is a long-term editor of the German Java Aktuell magazine. Last but not least he organized over 100 IT events/meetups in Germany and founded/runs 6 user groups including a Java User Group, Devoxx4Kids, Spring, Microservies, Software Crafting and Software Architecture meetups.
