Philipp Krenn lives to demo interesting technology. Having worked as a web, infrastructure, and database engineer for more than ten years, Philipp is now working as a developer advocate at Elastic, the company behind the open source Elastic Stack consisting of Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, and Logstash. Based in Vienna, Austria, he is constantly traveling Europe and beyond to speak and discuss about open source software, search, databases, infrastructure, and security.
Q. Tell us a bit about yourself. What are your hobbies and interests?
Hi! I’m Philipp and I’m almost a full time tourist. I travel around, mostly in Europe, to speak at events, talk to people, and solve problems. Luckily that’s my job at Elastic.
Q. Why did you select this topic for your session at Voxxed Days Cluj-Napoca 2018?
I’ll be speaking about centralized logging patterns. I thought that this was kind of a solved problem, but it turns out that still quite a lot of organizations struggle with this. So I want to show some possible approaches plus their up and down sides.
Q. Who should attend your session?
Anybody who wants to improve their logging situation. It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Q. What are the key things attendees will take away from your session?
We will discuss five different patterns plus various tricks around them. Hopefully you can pick the right strategie for your situation after the talk and take the pain out of logging.
Q. Aside from speaking at Voxxed Days Cluj-Napoca 2018, what is the year review look like for you?
I’ve done my fair share of traveling, which was great. But I’m also looking forward to some down time and have more time to work on things I find interesting.
Q. What are your plans for the next year?
I don’t make too many plans. I generally figure out things along the way and I’m always curious what will come up next.
